fuel push rod

Or bolt the Pump to Stand .
Then lower both over Rod .
Wiggle till you feel drop over Rod .
And bolt down .

This is the method I use too. Way easier to push straight down and install two nuts that to hold the pump and start two bolts.

well...No luck.
Is the cap on the the pump arm supposed to be crimped solid to the arm? the one I have
came very loosely fit on the arm and wants to turn at the slightest bump.

The cap should be able to swivel on the arm so that it can stay lined up with the push rod when the arm is pivoting. The cap should not be so loose that it appears to want to fall off. I have carefully crimped caps to be better attached to arms while still allowing swiveling, but not been impressed with pump quality when I had to do so.
