    Ford Flathead Torque Tube Identification?

my '37 torque tube does not have a centre bearing of grease nipples from which the bearing would have been greased. It has a solid axel with the boss suggesting it should or could have a centre bearing but, the torque tube itself does not look like it had a centre bearing. Are ALL '37 passenger...

'35 Ford, 3 window coupe - an update

I have a real "Frankenstein" flathead in my '35 Coupe - it's a '37 block with 32-36 heads. The '37 was a on-off year with 21 stud heads and a centre spigot so I decided I wanted to install a set of '37 centre spigot heads with block mounted water pumps and - commenced a quest and located a set...

    Clutch question - '35-'37

Okay, cool. I'll stick with the 9". I would have moved to the 10" if there was no mod required just because a bigger clutch is "better" in my mind (you know, bigger is better syndrome)? Anyway, I'll stick with the 9" then - thanks!

    Clutch question - '35-'37

Hi, I've just pulled my engine for ****** rebuild. The clutch is worn and I have no idea about the pressure plate but, the first and last time I drove the car the clutch did feel uncertain so, I'm wanting to replace everything. The question is, currently its a 9" clutch disc but I'd like to go...

Thank you for the information. I did speak with Richard at Early V8 and you are right, I couldn't find any wide five drums, mine are 37-38 drums and are in great shape but, I've decided to go with 5X5.5X16 rear and 5X5.5X15 (if I can find them) in the front. Richard has already been able to...

    Gee Whizz...A New 'Barner

Thanks for posting those pics! Received an e-mail from Richard at Early V8 Garage today to let me know my Hydraulic Conversion Kit is in the fabrication schedule and could be shipped by end of Feb - that's great news! Going to chat with Wicked Customs tomorrow - they'll be doing the hydraulic...

Might you know or be able to find out what those wheels were originally off or where I might locate new vintage-style 16" steelies without contemporary holes, slots etc. I'd like to run 16 inch rims with 5X5.5 drums - seems that's the most likely scenario going down when I do my hydraulic...

Update on my search for Rumble seat parts, I've located a nice regulator with the glass channel and Rumble seat hinges so, I'm of on a flying start. I'm going to concentrate on getting the rear window worked out for now so, the biggest challenge is locating the panel that holds the regulator. If...

    3rd gen autos

No problem getting in touch with them here, I spoke to them yesterday but, over the holiday, most suppliers were running on minimal staff. Cheers!

    Still vibrating but better

Let me begin by saying - I don't know what I'm talking about... now that I have that out of the way - misalignment from the transmission spline to the differential can definitely cause vibration. I installed a 9.75" Dana into my '35 years ago and didn't have the spline-to-spline alignment (angle...

Why I bought a '35 Coupe to heal - my backstory..

PS - over the years I've tried to make contact with Bobby Hull without success. Over the years I've also driven that old Ford in my dreams. I can still smell its smells, hear its rattles and the thunder the straight through exhaust at the end of two 4 inch drive shaft tubes that were the tailpipes!

Why I bought a '35 Coupe to heal - my backstory..

Apparently I need 10 posts to be able to DM 'Barn members' - So, let me tell you my backstory - if that's okay! When I was in high school, I was like most young guys, nuts for two things; "chicks" was we called 'em in the day and a hot car - most of us believed that one attracted the other...

...so, spent some meaningful time in the shop on the Coupe today. I was preparing the car for the hydraulic brake upgrade - doing stuff I can do myself and WD40 everything I can see to prep it for the mechanic. I was also on the hunt for some casting number which I found along with a tag from an...
