I am looking for dog dish/bowl hubcaps for my 53 merc - the original full sized hub caps keep coming off since putting on new tires and was told this is because they flex more than the old bias ply tires - want to put these on for day to day driving then put the full sized ones on for show...
I think my days of crawling around under a car trying to get a heavy gearbox in and out are over - my body is aching - either that or I need to invest in a car lift.
Just went for a drive and finally have the OD working - it did take a bit to work out what was going on - get up to speed, release...
The control arm pin on the Borg warner overdrive on my 53 Merc was either missing or badly corroded or was replaced by a nail or something - anyway its gone. The overdrive is fixed but this pin is still MIA - would a roll pin work ok for this? Just tap it in firmly?

I am having a problem finding the leather/or rubber cover for the clutch lever which goes inside the bellhousing - The transmission has the following number stamped on it: R10F-1 It also looks as if the bolt attaching to that lever is missing a retaining pin - seems to be at the max of...
I just got off the phone with the old guy who works on these cars - he is confident that its something wrong internally - mentioned shift rail, sprage and that there could also be something wrong with a clutch like mechanism which the pawl engages into - he lost me there - getting the...
Thanks for your comments and want to clarify something before things get too heated - I think my lack of knowledge of how the system works led to my posting information which was not clear. I am 99% certain that the electrical side of things are correct. I have ground out the relay as...
Still messing with the OD on my 53 mercury - today took for a run and I was always under the impression that the OD lever needs to be pushed in to have it operate normally. Just to see if it made any difference I pulled it out and noticed that with it out I am getting the 'engine braking' that...
