1949 Ford F1 temperature gauge question.

I have a 1949 ford pickup with the original flathead 6 engine. After driving about 1.5 miles, my temperature gauge goes to 3/4 of the way up. I have installed a new sending unit. When the gauge was 3/4 up, i cut the engine off and carefully took the radiator cap off. When i took the cap off, it...

Reproduction water pump block off plates

I have one water pump block off plate for using pre 1936 heads on a 1937 block. I have only one of these and I want to make some reproduction sets out of aluminum. Is the indention in the back necessary for them to work right? Also I assume that both the left and the right are the same, is this...

    Oil pressure sending unit.

Sometimes it reads 80 psi and sometime 30 and sometimes 0. All these times the mechanical gauge on the engine reads 45 psi.

    Oil pressure sending unit.

I have a 1949 ford pickup that has been converted to 12v and my oil pressure gauge is giving me bogus readings. Could someone please tell me if the sending unit I found on eBay will work with the original gauge...

    1949 Ford engine problems

I have just the single fuel pump. I added 5 gallons of gas to the tank and it runs a lot better. It still smokes on startup. I know I am loosing oil, because the oil level goes down with use.

    1949 Ford engine problems

The engine was removed. I removed the ridge and then deglazed the cylinders with a hone and then cleaned them with warm water, then with wd-40. The hone was lubricated with wd-40 while honing. I oiled everything with 30 weight oil when re-assembling. I am using 30 weight oil in the engine now...

    1949 Ford engine problems

I only have this problem when I let the truck sit for a day or more. The engine quits smoking after a few minutes of running.

    1949 Ford engine problems

I have a 1949 ford pickup with a flathead 6. I rebuilt the engine and put new rings, bearings and gaskets in it. I also had the valves ground, then ground the seats, lapped the valves and checked the valve clearance. The truck ran great at first. Now with 30 miles on a rebuit engine, the truck...

    1951 F3 Build

The temerature sensor is about $60. There are some on ebay and i found one on macs's. I tried to use one from a small block ford but it doesnt work right on my gauge, so i woud not go that route. There is a guy on the ford barn that most people recomend. In my opinion, the oreillys would be...

    1951 F3 Build

I would be cautious about the "running when parked story". My truck was supposedly running when parked. When i got it, the engine needed to be rebuilt and was obviously not running when parked. If the transmission was also removed from a 1951 ford car, it will be a 3 speed on the column. On my...

    1949 ford f1 questions

I installed a voltage reducer and i checked it with my meter and it was getting 6 volts, but my gauges were'nt working. I then reconnected them to 12 volts and they started working again. It looks like i have the correct gauges, but i read that they dont make reproduction gauges( that look like...
