    '49 convertible top

Hi All, The top suddenly stopped working on my '49 convertible and unfortunately it is down. I have a good schematic (thanks to hueyhoolihan) and seem to have continuity and power throughout the circuit, but I'm probably missing something. Can anyone suggest how to determine if the problem is...

    1949 Electrical Problems

Thank you hueyhoolihan for suggesting a wiring diagram I can finally read! I do have a multimeter but was having difficulty reading the tiny schematic I have. I'll follow through on the headlight circuit. Thanks alot.

    1949 Electrical Problems

Thanks for the warning. When I changed out the voltage regulator there was no big spark. I can't figure out the connection between the failure of the starter switch and the headlights.

    1949 Electrical Problems

To all early V8 electronic experts and knowledgeable informants: My 49 was not indicating a positive charge except at high rpm. I had the generator tested and it proved satisfactory, so the voltage regulator was replaced. When the battery ground lead was attached it created an exceptionally...

    Radio Dilemma

Good point, thanks. I'll look into it. Before I got the ashtray radio, I had removed the glove box radio (it didn't work) and installed a glove box as I had nowhere for the registration, etc. I'll compare the pricing, thanks.

    Radio Dilemma

Hi All, I have a '34 with a glove box radio and have come into possession of an ashtray radio. I thought the latter would be nice because it looked good and i could have a glove compartment. I've since been told I should keep the original glove box radio as it is rarer. Both radios need to be...

Hubs don't fit on new brakes

I did not arc the shoes as they seem to match the hubs without any gaps.

Hubs don't fit on new brakes

I just replaced all mechanical brake parts on my '34 and now the hubs barely turn with the adjusting wedge all the way out and the brake rods disconnected. Does anyone have some advice for me?

    34 Brake Linings

Yes, doing it myself. Thanks for the input. I wondered if the rear brakes should have short ones too. I wonder why their all not the same.

    34 Brake Linings

Should all brake linings extend the full length of the shoe? The two rear linings on the front brake shoes are about 3//4 the length of the shoes. Should I re-line them that way or the full length of the shoe? Thanks for any input on this.
