Radio Dilemma

Hi All,
I have a '34 with a glove box radio and have come into possession of an ashtray radio. I thought the latter would be nice because it looked good and i could have a glove compartment. I've since been told I should keep the original glove box radio as it is rarer. Both radios need to be refurbished. Does anyone have thoughts, pro or con on this? Thanks for your input.

I prefer the Ashtray Radio. My experience is the Ashtray Radio is more scarce and therefore more valuable.
I feel the Ashtray Radio makes for a much cleaner/easier installation...

I'd keep them both...that way you'd have stereo.

What do you use more oftern? The ashtray or the glove box? Probably the glovebox, so keep the ashtray radio. Or get pricing on restoring the two. I'm guessing not much difference, but you might find that one is more expensive to restore than the other and that might influence your decision. Either way, they are both neat.

Good point, thanks. I'll look into it. Before I got the ashtray radio, I had removed the glove box radio (it didn't work) and installed a glove box as I had nowhere for the registration, etc. I'll compare the pricing, thanks.

I believe the ashtray radio is correct for 1934. The glove box radio was introduced in 1933 and carried over to 1934 as an option. As I understand. In 1932, all the electronics were located under the front floorboard.

Up in my neck of the woods anyway, why bother? There's nothing to listen to on AM even if you do get it working.:(
