1936 gas gauge accurate at idle only

1936 with drake sender. Have adjusted float so that it is sort of accurate at idle. Then while driving goes up to full. it has the dual oil gas gauge. Unit is grounded , full continuity on new wiring from sender to gauge. Any thoughts on why reading higher when driving?

grounding bob drake fuel sending unit

Jay, on which end of the circut of the sender wire do you directly touch to ground? Is it leave sender wire connect to sender and then touch gauge end to a ground? or jump from ground at sender unit to sending terminal? hope this makes sense. Mike

grounding bob drake fuel sending unit

1936, still 6 volt, new fuel tank and sending unit. Continuity exists between tank and gauge. will grounding sending unit to metal floor of car be enough ( which I did) however unit still not reading. Should i move it to a heavier gauge ground source?

got it! I got another turn or so and that did the trick. I got concerned with the "don't over tighten" issue, which I agree with , however still had to get it pretty tight to seal. thanks all for the response!

1936 leaking fuel line at tank

I've read all the posts on the ferrule and about not overtightening. New nut and ferrule , all good with only 5 gallons in it. then with 10 gallons , leaks around the line itself from the fitting. appears the onion is not set. have tightened slowly tested, leak, repeated. still showing threads...

    brake board adjustments

This on a 1936 model 68. Aside from all the pro's cons of the brake board approach, I did use one adusted all as described, however when i removed the board after the "third" step adjustment, the rears were still locked. I am assuming the problem is the rod length and I should "shorten" the...
