Thanks to everybody for your comments, very helpful. I got lucky and found the oem seal on none other then ebay. Perfect fit, I did not want to be a three time loser. If anybody needs one it is ebay item number 222232848192 and Ford part number B4A-6698A. Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone for helping me with the oil pan gasket seal. I've moved on to the oil pump pick up tube where it goes into the oil pump. Again, it's my '61' 292 Y block. The seal for this connection that comes with the oil pan gasket set(FELPRO) looks nothing like the original that I took...

I'm looking for the correct torque for my 1961 292ci Y block oil pan bolts. I torqued the last one to factory spec (factory manual) of 12 ft. lbs. It squirted out the side in pieces like a banana. It was a FELPRO and I used Permatex Ultra Gray sealant. I started at 5 lbs. then 10 lbs. then...

That's what I thought, it seems that the gaskets are there to displace moisture and stop any rust from starting between the different parts. Thank you for your time.

I'm replacing the rear axle bearings in my '61' Galaxie. I don't see any rear axle seals. Is this typical for this year and model? The bearing is a ball bearing assembly with seals on both sides. Would that be it? Seems like gear oil would sneak out elsewhere. Any comments or help would be...

I have a '61' Galaxie 2 door and was wondering if a '63' Galaxie 2 door chassis/frame is the same as a '61'? Looking at pictures I can't see any difference with the exception of a convertible, mine is not. Thanks for your time and thanks for reading my post.
