I'd like to start by thanking everybody that replied to my questions about my oil filter and proper oil to use on my project. I'm reassembling the rear end housing and want to know if I need to use gasket sealer on the "housing to brake backing plate gasket" and "brake backing plate to axle bearing retainer flange gasket". It appears that this area is open at the bottom for drainage and that the gaskets are only there to keep the metal parts separate, but I'm not sure. Again, thank you for your replies.
