48/49 Flathead Manifold question

I have a 1948 Flathead with a duel carb setup and I would like to replace it with a single carb set up.

The question is: "What problem(s) will there in replacing the 1948 dual manifold with a 1949 single manifold?"

I have the 1949 manifold sitting on the engine and it bolts in place, but will there be problems with a running engine?

I will not be using the mechanical fuel pump and I will still be using the stock 1948 ignition system.

Thanks in advance...Joebeeker

There are two issues. First, the carb mounting pad on the later intake is angled 3 degrees forward (instead of being level, like the '48) and may look odd, along with possible float setting issues. Second, the ventilation systems are very different between the pre and post '48 engines.
If you still intend to use the later intake, I would:
Block off the front vertical stand pipe on the '48 engine (eliminating the front passage to the pan mounted vent)
Remove/plug the oil fill/breather on the '49 intake,
Install the '48 pump mount stand and air breather on the '49 intake, (block off the pump mount),
Install a pcv into the road draft port on the '49 intake and connect to manifold vacuum.
Use the older 59A intake gasket.
It may be easier and better to just find a stock 59A intake, IMO.
