Distributor questions.

1* C59A 42-48.... is the single piece crab style distributor cap interchangable with the two piece cap set?
2* If so, is the same rotor used for both?
3* How about the spring clip that holds the cap on?
4* Is there meant to be a seal or gasket between the cap and the distributor body?

#1 yes #2 no ,use the 42 rotor[its longer across]. #3use the 2 spring clips from the 42 #4 yes but the ones availible are no good. make one out of the gasket that is used inbetween the 2 caps on the helmet type dizzy. Just trim VERY slightly the OD size and fits perfect, Only a small sliver needs to be trimmed off,1/2 way around is usually enough. ken ct.

Yes, the crab cap (41-42) is interchangeable with the 46-48 dizzy. You will need the crab rotor, new clips and a gasket. All are listed in Mac's catalog. Ken CT has these parts also. Although easier to install when the dizzy is still in the car, it is not as weatherproof as the 2 piece cap. John

Its just as weather proof as long as you use a gasket between the cap and dizzy and the 9 boots on the wires [rubber] I have every thing he needs. ken ct.
