flexable window material

Can anyone tell me where to buy what ever the material is that used for glass on roadsters. Mine is getting to where I can't see through it. The rest of the top and sides are perfect.

I am not sure if you are speaking of the rear Curtain Light or the Wind Deflectors, so I will answer both.

Originally the Wind Deflectors used plate glass followed by laminated (safety) glass. Safety glass is what most of us use today however some feel like Lexan™ is better suited product for them because they are using the poor quality reproduction Wind Wing hardware to hold the glass.

If you are speaking of the Rear Curtain Light in the curtain flap, this also was glass and is available from larger parts suppliers or A&L. Be careful on the disassemble of the frame because the little screws are easy to drop, hard to find, and even harder to replace. The top material is sandwiched between the frame so be careful not to distort the fabric while you are replacing the glass.

Hope this helps you some.

Brent covered the glass but if you are talking about the see through plastic that is sewn into the rear of the roadster pickup top (I think roadsters should be glass but check the judging standards, maybe standard roadsters were sewn in plastic) I would try a top shop that installs convertible tops on late model cars. With luck they will give you a scrap big enough for your window. You should ask what they would charge to sew it in.

Great point as I forgot he had a '30 Roadster Pick-up. Thanks for pointing that out.

I had a local Boat Canvas shop put a piece in for me on a top that I had manufactured. Boats use tons of clear heavy vinyl and they did it for a third of what the local car top place wanted.

Thanks guys. It was for my 30 roadster pickup and I should have said so. It has clear plastic sewn in right now that I can't see through. If I put in glass I couldn't roll it up in the summer. I know my top has been replaced but was this the way they came from the factory?

Brent,

I didn't know he had a roadster pickup since he said roadster. It was a lucky guess because of the words he used and also I have one ('31 RDPU). Attached is a picture of the rear window in my '31 RDPU. It came on a top from Le Baron Bonney years ago and I only assume it is correct (comments anyone?). If the truck is a driver it might be good to consider a larger or relocated window to make it easier to see out the rear view mirror (don't ask why I know this).

Thanks everyone for all the help and information. I just bought a peace of clear plastic from a upholstery and top shop for 20 bucks. Don't know if this is reasonable or not but I got it anyway and will be sowing it in ASAP.
