YES! What we will get is a bigger, more interesting magazine, a long awaited museum, better touring class judging and less politics. Just look at the V8 club, the CCCA, THE AACA, and other "one club" organizations. The only thing we will loose is a few power hungry national board members. This current 2 club thing just dilutes our purpose. "THE MODEL A CLUB" will make the future better for all Model A Ford enthusiasts. Anything is possible. Lets do it.

To be fair, if they merge we will have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what we will get out of it, only what we hope to get out of it.

It is too early to have any reasonable idea how the poll will turn out but it is a little more difficult than a simple poll here. I would support a merger. I am a member of both clubs. Part of the problem is that a lot of folks are probably just members of one or the other, not both. Those folks may very well be happy with the status quo and would vote against the unknowns of a merger. What would really be nice would be if the board of directors of both clubs would seriously study the issue and put a well thought out merger plan to a vote of the membership of both clubs.

One stronger club, with a regional or divisional setup that could support more events in greater geographical locations would be my desire. I don't expect it to happen, but I sure would like to see it happen.

Sure, but the truth is I don't care one way or another. :) I am a member of my local Model T club, I don't have to be a member of ether of the national clubs, unlike the local Model A club (which I do not plan on becoming a member) which you have to be a member of one of the national clubs. I have seen "THE RESTORER" and it is a nice mag. OH, maybe you could add and 3ed category, no opinion, or don't care!

MUSEUM????????????????? Ask the AACA membership if they ever enter the doors, better yet do they have ANY IDEA how much the thing drains out of the clubs funds?

Roadster62,

Actually AACA has an excellent Museum. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. The funny thing is that AACA has a Museum, a Library & Research Center, and an excellent magazine and AACA Annual Membership still costs less than either MAFCA or MARC.

If they merge... will it mean we only get one magazine. Or will we get a magazine more often?

First as to the merger YES

If that were to happen I don't know if there would be a monthly magazine, but can tell you that the Cadillac, LaSalle Club of which I am a member does have a monthly magazine.

not to stick out like a sore thumb, but i like having two national clubs. although both clubs serve the same purpose, they both are different in the way they go about doing things.

both clubs are not mature as of yet to be able to merge, too many things need to be worked out before that happens

There is actually more then a simple yes or no.

If we assume they are just a duplication of each other then you may vote one way.

If we assume there are differences between the two that may sway a vote.

If you belong to both clubs already and the extra money is not a problem you might not see a reason to merge.

I you would like to belong to both and the dues is a problem you might want to merge.

If you belong to niether you might vote either way just so you won't fell left out of the conversation.

As for me I would like to hear more about the REAL differences in how they treat the hobby before I make a final decision although a magazine a month would be nice.

I see both clubs struggling right now, and their struggles are leading many to question the stability and sensibility of each. I think a merger would allow better organization of regional and national meets, a stronger membership support, and nurture a team atmosphere among A owners.

It sounds hoke, but it seems like the Model A has no really strong competition in it's class (IE...Chevelle, Corvette, Mustang, etc...clubs of the modern era). The only thing left is for A owners to compete among themselves, thus we do ;).

Merging would be great. I might even join if the magazine was improved also. Most meets are generally too far away for me to attend so the magazine is likely all I would really get out of it. Rod

In what way?

The past several years worth of MARC meets have been well attended with registrations around the 500 mark, the last two had a couple dozen of "youth" under the age of 18 (not enough but a good start).

MARC bought and paid off their building in the past ten years.

The M.A.N., under the control of Helen Ehrenhoffer has become an award winning publication whose biggest downfall is that the members don't submit enough articles.

Yes, the dues may be high but a lot of that has to do with the cost of shipping since postage seems to go up every time the post master blinks.

MAFFI, a great organization, is working to build a "bi-partisan" museum that can be enjoyed by a large number of people outside of Model A'ers...

In life, you can never lose enough weight and never have enough money. So I guess I'm still not clear what people *know* will happen if the two clubs ever merged.

If people are able to get MARC and MAFCA to merge, I'd suggest that group then work to get the Yankees and Redsox to come together under one team.
