I'm about to undertake the removal of the rear axle of my 23 roadster to replace the thrust washers. One of the brake shoes broke on the previous owner and was fixed by him. I'm affraid that maybe this happened because one of the babbit thrust washer on that side is bad. I bought the MTFCA axle book & have read the removal section in the shop book. I see there are plenty of tools in Lang's catalog to go along with this job.
Are there any recommendations as which tools are really needed? I see a bunch of drivers, reamers etc. I have no idea what the internal condition of this axle, but the car is in excellent orginal condition & the rest of it mechanically is good. The axle makes no weird noises. I really don't want to buy more tools that I need, who knows if I'd ever do this job again. If parts are within spec as per the MTFCA book I'm going to re-use them where permissible.
Does anyone have any extras of the required tools that they would like to sell?
Thanks for your time.
