Props to Macs....

Too often suppliers like Macs get slammed for supplying chinese junk (yes, I guess junks are chinese :D ). Well I took a chance and ordered some main bearing shells from them, and they notified me they were out of stock. I backordered them, and they arrived well before the expected time. I opened the box up, and they sent me NOS made in USA bearings in the old style grease/wax wrapping. Am I happy with Macs? You betcha!

Macs will treat you right....if anything happens that you don't like or is not correct....don't just grumble and eat the bad part....let them know. They will do what they can to correct it.
From a happy Macs customer.

One the other hand, I had ordered a new carb for my 40 and it leaked bad so they said they would ship another one. In the meantime I took the one that leaked and soaked it in gas, tightend up a couple of screws that were not real tight and put it on and it worked fine. I had receive the other carb and just sent it back. All good service. But, the UPS freight for the carb to me was 45.00. The freight back in the exact same box----7.00 Sometimes I think Mac's is more in the shipping business than the parts business. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, they and Speedway and several other major suppliers now only have one shipping method..... and that's the most expensive. Being overseas I really take a hit on shipping. There are many other suppliers who will let you select your preferred shipping option.
However, I opened up and cleaned up and fitted my bearings and crankshaft last night, and to my delight, the bearings are actual Ford ones!

I beg to differ with you on their shipping policy.
I went through this issue with Richard recently. Let them know you want it shipped the least expensive way and they will mark your account thus.

If you have issues, give them a call...they are more than willing to work it out.
I know and I speak from experience.

BTW----I am not affiliated in any way with Mac's. I just took them up on their personal offer in a post not to long ago about their sale to another company to email them with issues.
I received very quick response from them to discuss and am satisfied they are doing everything they can to keep us as customers.

Mac's shipping charge is based on the cost of the parts. A one pound part costing 151.00 has a shipping charge of 29.99. Tell me that doesn't suck.

That's interesting to know, because it's not indicated in their website.
However, I posted this, not as a complaint about shipping, but as a recommendation for receiving good product. The shipping issue is incidental.

Shipping is getting to be a real problem. As far as their service and the parts they sell goes, I have been very satisfied with them. Just ordered some seldom used clutch parts and received them quickly and they were quality parts.

I think we can all agree that the cost of shipping has gone way up in the last few years no matter who you purchase from.....all supposedly based on fuel costs.

I do not believe Mac's is making money on shipping?

I acknowledge that MAC's probably does offer quality parts and service, however I recently purchased quality parts elsewhere because of MAC's shipping costs.

I have found C&Gs shipping costs to be down compared to others. Of course NZ being in the Pacific Ocean and C&G being on the West Coast they're a good bet for us at the "a*s end" of the globe. I recently got an order from them and a rubber seal was the wrong one (they had inadvertantly put their wrong sticker on another rubber seal in a similar looking bag). I e-mailed Kyle he replied with in a couple of hours and then very soon I get a "mail tracker" message that tells me the replacement one was on its way free of charge. He told me not to worry about sending the other one back but I did to show good will on my part. Service like that makes you smile and makes you want to keep going back to them and I do. I've used Macs and can't "grumble about them either but for me C&G is the first place I go to for parts. good shipping rates and quick turn-a-round, usually 7-8 days from order to delivery every time (international).

For Me, Not So Much.

Glad these guys have had such good service from Macs. It is not a problem when all goes well with an order, but when they misinform a customer and outright lie when things grind on for some time, followed by a pre instructed referral by sales staff to a manager who is seldom there for days just to avoid answering the tough question (run around). Same admiring giesers would be thinking differently in such cases, if they even noticed. In short: Don't do the gift certificate unless you don't mind long delays in filling of your order. Works like this: They take your money for the certificate. You order. Nothing happens until you mail the same certificate that they sold you back to them to confirm that it exists. In my case it was same day. At some future time the order is filled at standard speed and after many unwelcome customer questions. A credit for the change is held by Macs locking the customer in and avoiding returns of the certificate.

Another opportunity for problems is with the discount incentives. Here the customer unfriendly software accepts the order but may not grant the discount. This is unknown to the customer until the order arrives. Then comes dealing with the sassy ***** who grudgingly may correct the mistake, but not until conversations with too many Macs mini-honchos. They have their ways, but not a friend to the imperfect customer.

Macs experiences have caused me to diversify my parts buying to the competition. Numb as they are, they probably will not even notice.

Hearing that Macs has been sold to the big corporation and wonder what will happen. Good or Bad? Fred A
