Are rods diffent like the pistons are? looks to be complete save one wrist pin. what is the item bottom right an oil pump of some kind? Looks like a cool set what ever it is...

I think you've hit it,some kind of demo or display for salesmen or reps. All three rods, pistons, and bearings are different. That worm gear kind of rings a bell with me too.I've taken something apart with a block and trunnion above the worm like that, but I can't remember what it was on.For some reason I remember the block being all rattly on the worm.

That (block thing) looks like part of a Gemmer steering box. I think.

I've never seen nor heard of such a package. It just seems like a strange mix and then to throw in a steering part with pistons and rods is hard to figure out?

Might try putting it on the AACA site under "What is it" Would be interesting to find out what it was for!

Worm is from a Saginaw steering, I think. Has to be samples as everything is for different applications, and the steering part is really odd...I wonder if someone was selling rebuilt ones with new balls exchange or something??
Rods are most distinctive thing...slide 'em out and see what is forged on them! I kinda think upper right one is flathead v8.

A machinist once showed me a special Chevrolet tool...it was a crank journal grinder that could be hooked on from below on a car with only pan removed and regrind a throw in situ.
It was specifically intended for 216 type Chevies, which ate rods and crankpins as a steady diet.

How about a salesman demo for what is thought to be a worm gear that is probably a bearing and rist pin sizing tool.
