Blessing the vehicle

Good thing you are not a baptist. Would have been quite a mess driving it in the lake. Ah, that's christening.
But it reminds me of the story of the priest, baptist minister and rabbi that would periodically get together to discuss their different faiths. One day they were wondering if you could teach a bear religion? They decided they would investigate and report next time they met.

At the next meeting the priest, sporting some bandages, explained how he went up to the bear and while he met some resistance the bear calmed don once the holy water was sprinkled on it and they talked religion the rest of the afternoon.

The baptist minister, with a few more bandages and his arm in a sling, explianed, "We don't sprinkle them like you catholics, we dunk them. Well, that bear would have none of it but i finally got him dunked in the lake and he calmed down and we discussed religion the rest of the afternoon."

Meanwhile the rabbi is sitting there in a full body cast and the minister and the priest look at him. He just asks, "Ever try and circumcise one of those things?"

I also suppose it is also good you are not Jewish. It might get tiring explaining the missing horn cover.

"In reality, I think there is more swearing @ a Model "A" or its parts, than the blessing of one !!... "

when one of our Model A's misbehaves, I refer to it as the antiChrist.

that's what the mechanic called a troublesome Land Rover in that great movie "The Gods Must be Crazy"

I'm intrigued, as a Christian, not a Catholic. Essentially you are asking God to be with you when you use the object. We share the same bible, and the tearing of the curtain at the time Jesus died allows us direct contact with God. What role does the priest play in the blessing if I'm doing the asking, and God is doing the blessing. Just genuinely curious, no attitude at all and I know this isn't the right forum for this question, just thought I could get the quick answer here.

29 RPU Just how people use their faith. It does not always have to make perfect sense. I just respect it for what it is. Religion is like a Model A. Everyone drives them but not everyone agrees on how to maintain them. Just look up best oil for my car.

29RPU,
My intention was not to start a religious thread.
And there have been some funny comments along the way.
You are correct in saying this isn't the proper forum.
So, I will PM you the theology behind why Catholics
Believe what we believe. And we do not share the same bible per se.
Martin Luther removed 7 books called the septuigent during
"the reformation". So the Protestant bible is lacking
These 7 books...all old testament books.
(the last part was not theology so I included it for an FYI)

I'll add I'm not really religious but I have no problem respecting people who do this and I think its a great thread.

I also think this is the proper forum, this is something you did with your model A.

I have a different prayer card in every early ford I have.

Found this card at an antique shop about 20yrs ago.

Thanks Perfdavid. I really did just want to know. I really appreciate the PM, and do respect everyones views.

This has been a cool thread......
I bought my first car, a 1932 Model B pickup with dual sidemounts at 14 years old. I had a couple of years to work on it since I could not dirve yet. My grandpa was an auto mechanic and he taught me quite a bit, some good and some not so good.
Until I became a Christian, I thought all of those years of my grandpa teaching me to work on old cars that he was blessing them.....I know now it was quite the contrary.
