Repairing Dual Temp Gauge Question

Following the many posts on Ford Barn I was successful in unclogging the small tube running from the top of the gauge to the lower reservoir. I am preparing to add the hydrostatic red fluid back in the reservoir but before I do I would like recommendations on the best sealant to use when reconnecting the air line nut to the top of the reservoir. In the past I used teflon tape, but I noticed when I poured metal prep first and than lacquer thinner to unclog the line that both liquids turned milky during the process in the glass tube. Could this be from the white teflon tape? Is there a better way to seal the air line tube to the reservoir once the red fluid has been added? Thanks for any advice.

No seal was used originally between the fitting on the end of the air line and the hex-shaped tube on the back of the gauge. Metal-to-metal brass was suffice.

I would follow David's advice.

Interesting idea: I had an old time Model A tell me to use maple syrup on the threads of the gas gauge assembly for my Model A. The key was to let it dry over night. I tried it and no leaks so far.

Not sure if this would work with the red fluid.

I am from Kansas and need help finding someone that can rebuild my temp/fuel gauge in my 32 Vickie. Years ago I had a man convert my fuel gauge from my 33 Tudor to electronic but it’s been about 30 plus years ago & I expect the man is gone by now. Do you know anyone that could help me ?

The tapered plug seals into the reservoir via the hex nut. USE TWO WRENCHES and DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN as you will create bigger problems by doing so
