Help Buy distrubutor

I paid less than 100€ for an Accel 34100, spent an evening on the lathe to make the housing fit the timing cover of the flathead including the geardrive and adjusted the flyweights to 15 degrs movement, at 2000 all in. Runs happily. On the blown engine I included a vac/pressure can to advance/retard influenced by the manifold pressure below the blower. Easy to do if you have a lathe and some common sense.

I do the same with Mallory Chevy and Pertronix.
The distributor works clockwise....
I don't know what the is problem , I make harder and softer springs... crankshaft always advance clockwise.

I adjust my lathe

Is it possible that the mechanical advance has been assembled wrong, with the link between the primary shaft and the advance shaft, facing the wrong way when it was assembled?
Anyway if I was going to fit another distributor to my 8BA I would modify a small diameter SBC Progression Ignition. Check out. progressionignition.com
totally programmable ignition curve using your smart phone.

I have checked the advance, distributor turn clockwise, advance press by hand and turn clockwise. Turn the lathe and open at 700 rpm.

I don't know if the problem is with the engine, the engine is a new project...

your progressiveingnition distributor is very interesting.

Thank you.

The problem with your distributor is a mechanical problem, it either has wrong parts or has been assembled wrong. Also remember that the distributor turns at 50% of engine speed, so 700 RPM in a lathe is equal to 1400 RPM on the engine. Look at the last picture in post #21. The problem is in that assembly. Force the weights out and see how the advance works, right where your thumb is in the picture. That movement is going in the wrong direction.

Also there are 2 different types of 8BA distributors. One is like the one in post #21, which fits in the cast iron front cover. The other one has a longer shaft with a 7/16" diameter by 15/16" long spigot. This one is for the aluminum front cover. Check which cover you have.

the distributor runs clockwise. the rotor advance moves clockwise.

is this correct?

cover is cast iron, perfect fit
