I bought a semi basket case Roadster Pickup, previous owner bolted the cab to the frame with the old wood and misc bolts. The doors didnt align, I ordered new wood and bolt kit, my questions is, where the front cab bolts to the frame, does the long wood piece go inside the channel? I did that but after adding the other wood blocks its way off. The door is to low to the the back of the cab, I know it requires some tweeking but the front cowl mount seems to low. With the wood inside the front channel should there be anything between the cab and frame other then then the rubber cushion? Please help, I am at my wits end!!

The wood blocks do go in the subframe channel - single front bolt goes thru the frame and the two rear bolts go thru a bracket attached to the outside of the frame in the area of the cowl post.

Round hard rubber shimming pads are available - most any supplier will likely have them.

The problem could easily be that shimming may not prove to be anything but frustrating as there are so many other factors that may be involved. Your frame should be the starting point - is either side rail sagged? (Common on the driver's side). Frame not square, twisted, etc.? Other factors include things like bent or worn hinges or pins. How does the other door fit?

Another big consideration is that the fitting of the hood will be be somewhat affected by any cowl shimming and this should also be considered early in the process.

Not an easy and frequently frustrating task as many will attest to. Good luck. Keep posting how things go - many members will have gone thru pretty much the exact same problems on their Roadster or Phaeton.

Because my ‘28 RPU is an early one with the left hand brake, the wood block is not continuous. This may have helped me with door alignment, because I have, IIRC, three rubber pads under the rear two carriage bolts, and only one pad under the front bolt. I have not yet begun to figure out how my hood will sit.

I know MAFCA had and article how to do it but can’t find it.
