12V light bulbs

jrelliott on this forum has a complete cross reference list he will send you just for the asking

Tail light, cowl lights, dome light, instrument panel light: 3 cp #67 bulb.

Brake light: 32 cp #1156 bulb.

I find the 67 bulb too bright for my instrument panel light. I install a #623 bulb. It is a 24 volt bulb, so it burns half bright on 12 volts. A nice glow. You don't mind leaving it on while you drive at night.

For those changing to 12 Volts here is a conversion chart of bulb to

*1 Can be obtained from Little British Car Co with no modifications to
reflectors
*2 Note these get very hot and could melt plastic lenses. Brightest
*3 These are a little dimmer from the side and draw much less current.
If used in turn signals may require a resistor in parallel to get turn signals to
work properly.
*4 If get to high cp bulb is distracting at night(IMHO).
Turn Signal 12 Volt Signal Stat #180

Thanks for the comprehensive list Mike.

I like using 1125 Bulb for my headlights. 125/75 cp. Direct fit, not halogen.

Also I use a LED light in my dash so it doesn't get so HOT and LED's in my Tail Lights and Rear Turn simgnals

Thanks again, with all this GREAT HELP and info I should get this car back on the road.I will post pictures soon. Still working on how to do it. Thanks ED

Note to Y-Blockhead Tried finding the information on the 1125 bulb and it is not a headlight bulb according to info on donsbulbs. Would like some more info on this if it a correct bulb for the headlight application. The candle power is quite high if in fact a 125/75 candle power. Would like to know the current draw.

Try here https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=B-1125

Take note of the "These bulbs are legal in some states ..." notice in the instructions.

Oops, I meant to put a link in my post. Mike has it right. https://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=B-1125 I don't know why they would be illegal in "some states" They sure are not any more blinding than some of the lights on some of the new off shore cars if they are adjusted correctly.... Just for comparison my PAR 36 Fog Lights are rated at 7000 cp.:eek: http://www.unityusa.com/U-4415A-Amber-Fog-Lamp_p_83.html

I wonder what states they are illegal in? Nobody has said anything to me, but then again I try to avoid driving my Town Sedan after dark.

As an example in NY under section 375 vehicle equipment, lighting states; "(c) No lamp shall be used on a motor vehicle having a light source greater than thirty-two candle power, unless such lamp is approved by the commissioner as provided by this section. "

I could not find anything in Florida that has to do with headlight output except for height from the ground.

Than the 32/50 cp headlights would be illegal also? Crazy...

Think I'll continue to use the 1125 bulb until 'They' say I can't. I f I was in NY they would freak out at my Fog Lights... :p:p
