what is the best type, spray on with ceramics, blanket insulation, fitted insulation which would you use? which is the best?

Fitted would be best IMO. You can get a roll of the Mylar stuff that you can trim to fit with scissors at any big box home store.

I can't say enough good about that Peel & Seal stuff. It's really great. I used the 6" wide stuff as it's easier to fit in place. Makes a HUGE difference

I did the roof of my '54 with it 4 years ago and no problems,HUGE difference in heat reflection as I live in Phoenix,AZ. Put your hand on the exterior for less than a minute and you'll take a trip to the burn unit, totally comfortable inside.

I like "Reflexit", Lowes product. Use it on the roof and panels that will have no load bearing items on them. Also use the duct insulation they sell.

You can make your own "Lizard Skin" by using latex paint and ceramic balls that model airplane builders use to form odd shaped parts for their stuff.

The Lowes stuff is about 1/2 the price of Fat Mat that I used, which makes it a 1/4 price of what Dyna Mat costs. Here's my car done with Fat Mat Rattle Trap. Still have to do the inside of the roof and part of the trunk. I also have a new factory type firewall pad in place, easy to do with the heater out.

If I put insulation on the fire wall under the hood would that work better than inside on the fire wall?

It may since it would keep the firewall sheet metal from heating up so much. A reflective material would work best but keeping it clean would be an issue. Dirt will reduce its reflectivity.

I just bought Noico Liner 37.5 Sqft Heat & Cool Automotive Insulation Pad, Foam Self-adhesive I will try this product to see how it works I will let you know

may order the butyl, I am mostly interested in heat and cool, once I put the heat and cool down can I put butyl over the top? Also, I was thinking about using this on the firewall under the hood????????
