1935 Car - Clutch/Brake Assembly Removal

Hello, I am working on my mechanical brake system on my '35 car and in looking at the clutch/brake assembly there is a lot of play in the assembly. My question is, I'm not sure how to get it out of the car. I have the floorboards out but the engine and transmission are in the car. I hope I do not have to take the transmission out to remove it. Wondering if I need to knock out the pin on the shaft by the brake pedal and then the clutch pedal will slide off the shaft and come out of the hole on the frame ? Looking for help...

Also looking for 2 front brake wedge studs that go through the brake wedges.

Mike.....

Hi Mike, on the few '35 brake/clutch pedal assemblies that I have removed, the transmission was already out because I was taking the car completely apart anyway. Surely, someone else here should know if it can be done with the transmission in place.

Folks, If you know the answer to Mike's question, please chime in.

I am attaching a few pictures here of a disassembled B/C pedal parts assembly, and a complete assembly just as it came out of my car. The one hex head bolt in the assembly (not including the four used to hold the main bracket to the frame) is there to clamp and hold the main bearing/sleeve (~ 2-1/2" to 3" long, shown in center of some pictures) tightly in place so it cannot move axially or radially in the main mounting bracket. In the past, this has been a difficult part to find as nos, and I don't believe it's being reproduced based on the last time I needed to find one.

The transmission does not have to be removed. The clutch operating lever has to be removed by removing the pin (grind off head and punch out) using your favorite method. Remove four bolts holding pedal bracket to frame withdraw clutch pedal towards outside of frame, it helps to have used penetrating oil first and work back and forth while pulling out (sounds good) of course the brake rod and clutch rod should be disconnected first and perhaps loosen brake light switch. Brake pedal and bracket can be removed towards the transmission then, the clutch pedal can be removed.

I've never tried it this way, but had thought about trying it at some point in time, but after I had so much trouble getting those rivets out and then separating the pieces, and this was with the B&C assembly on my workbench, or held in the vice on my workbench, I ruled out trying this with the assembly bolted to the frame and the transmission still in place.
