Gas Monkey Garage Coup

They are good people and this one doesn't appear to have been modified. They are contacted frequently by people wanting to sell vehicles and they purchase them for resale. The pictures show an original undamaged car that needs some work to get it running just like their ad says. I wouldn't be afraid to buy from them.

I'd buy that-they haven't even touched it. I enjoy watching the show. Most of the cars they feature are not to my taste, but that doesn't bother me. They do find old original cars quite often, and re-sell them with no modifications.

They are a dealer; their business is to make money! They buy and sell used cars. Some are reworked; whether you like the final outcome, is your business. If you don't like it, you won't buy it. Lots of folks buy cars from many various dealers. Some folks pay too much, but that's their business. Garage Monkey has built and sold some mighty nice cars. They've made a boat load of money on some, but lost money on others. Different strokes for different folks.

I cannot speak about the Monkey but if you inspected it or better yet take a few experienced club members along for a few opinions you'd get your answer... Who knows, that car might be ok as project car for the right price..

IF the price is right, compared to what you see/know, if satisfied on that basis, yeah I'd buy.. But a lot of IFs from long distance, eh

In the OLD barn days, there was a member here who bought (from long distance and by pictures) what he claimed was a junk A pickup from Rawlings , when he first started up. That member started a spitting contest using the Fordbarn as his platform. Ryan would have booted his butt, IMO, quickly...but then this wasn't his domain back then. Glad Ryan is Ryan, eh :)

If it is true, they are good people, then the TV show does not do them justice. I saw an episode where the gave a couple of guys from Australia a quote to do a car so the pair could travel in it around the US. After they get here to the states they go back on their word and charge them substantially more money then quoted. What are the two guys supposed to do now? They paid it. To me that is a crooked way to do business. Give your word keep your word!

How hard is it to put a car together with new parts in a clean well lit garage, with every tool you need. That show was good in the beginning, now it is not worth watching.

I also think that who ever bought it and you don't know anything about it the price was a little heavy in my option

I agree with nq50, the show was good in the beginning but now its all about Richard and whatever he is doing. Who cares about him? I want to see cars bought, built and sold.

You have to say they showed every part of the car in the pictures. Must of cost them at least $503 for the pictures! LOL
