In the 1980s Sanders Auto Glass was actually run by Mr. Sanders in Oregon. At least 10 years ago, the business was sold to a larger glass company in Vancouver WA and the sons of the owner run the antique car glass business, as they bought the Sanders name too as well as all the patterns. The big difference is now it is all modern equipment, lasers, water cutters etc. as the larger glass business makes windows for large high rise buildings.
Nothing like Mr. Cox describes could happen with a modern catalyzed product. The 14 pieces of glass for my wagon with black edges and bugs was perfect and shipped without incident via UPS. I stopped by their business just to see it when I was down that way and they had a video of the UPS guy throwing boxes of glass they packed out of the truck into their parking log at about 35 mph to test their packaging. They might have that on a website, I don't know. It is a totally different business now.
