zinc or no zinc

The Hy-per Lube promotional literature does not mention it having any ZDDP in it at all. Even the Hy-per Lube Zinc replacement additive does not have any zinc of phosphorus in it.QUOTE]

That's why its called zinc replacement.

"Hy-Per Lube Zinc Replacement Additive contains an exclusive Polymer Ester formula, when added to any motor oil, including the new SM rated oils, will provide up to TWICE the anti-wear protection as high content ZDDP motor oils and is also safe for use in all engines even those with catalytic converters "
"Hy-Per Lube Zinc Replacement Additive will provide complete wear protection for cams & lifters in flat tappet cam design engines."

The active ingrediant in Hyper Lube is jojoba oil with some ester based light oil (synthetic oil). It doesn't have any of the usual anti-wear additives like ZDDP, TCP, boron, or calcium. A lot of the oil additives out there are not what you might think they are. The FTC has started actions against many of the manufacturer's of additives to prevent them from using fraudulent advertising practices.

If you're not certain what is in your chosen additive just google it & see what comes up.
