I recently purchased a Zenith Carb rebuild kit. It came with a comp jet and a seat for the GAV (used on some carbs, not mine). They both look pretty much the same except: one has the jet opening about the same size all the way through the jet and the other tapers down to a pin hole size. Which is the comp jet??
 
comp jet has narrower bore, constant diameter and is shorter length. The GAV has a "step" where the needle seats onto it.
 
The Comp Jet is the same size all the way through, probable about .037.

The GAV needle seat is longer and tapers down toward the center; On later Zenith and Holley Carbs. GAV seats were cast in the housing. The GAV seat is provided as the kits are for early and later carbs both.
