I am working on a slide presentation about the Zenith carburetor, and I find there are misconceptions about the carburetors flow rates. Notice i said flow rates.
A very important if not the most important flow rate for sizing a carburetor to an engine is the air CFM the carburetor flows at its wide open throttle. The trend in our hobby is to obsess about jet flow rates and then stick an air flow restrictive filter on the carburetor. Consider the engine needs 14 to 16 parts of air to 1 part of gasoline. Yes gasoline flows are sensitive & important, but so is the volume of air flow.
Does anyone have modern air flow bench test results for the Model A's single-venturi carburetor at various throttle openings including a wide open throttle?
