Need some help on a Zenith B carb leaking gas from the intake. I have rebuilt this carb, set the float level with a gauge and it's perfect. Had it on the bench for hours and gas does not leak out. Put it on the manifold, turn on the gas and it holds just fine (for hours). Crank the engine over a few times and it gas come pouring out of the intake. Needle and seat are new, on the old needle and seat I lap it in and still the same problem, so i know it's not the needle and seat. What i'm i missing? thanks

Were you using the choke while cranking it over?

You should never have to choke the engine for more than about one revolution, or you'll have gas running on the floor.

From Minnesota, where the rain just won't quit.

I did have the coke on while it was cranking. I opened the coke and still would get gas pouring out? thanks for the note on the choke.

Tried it again with the choke open and no gas pouring out. Looks like it was operator error. Still new at this Model A stuff. thanks again Tom.

I have a Zenith 2 on mine and unless the temp is very cold I open the GAV 3/8 turn; turn on ign; crank engine pull choke for as Tom says 1 revolution and push in. Starts every time. Each engine carburetor combination is a little different. After a few starts you will find the settings that your engine likes.
