Zenith 3 Bottom Secondary Well

I’m in need of a carburetor restorer contact name number who can help drill out a secondary well on a Zenith 3 bottom. Thank you in advance.

Have you tried heating the lower casting with a torch around the secondary well on either side of the wall? Then immediately quench it in water. That will often break loose the grip between the brass secondary well and the cast iron carb half. Or is the slot in your secondary well all gnarled up so that you can't use a flat blade screwdriver to back it out?

I picked it up this year at Hershey - most of the thread are exposed but there is nothing to attach to in an attempt to back it out. I believe drilling it out is the only answer.

I would heat to almost red hot hit with cold water-propane not hot enough, then use an easy out to turn out never a problem with the heat procedure. use some windex while heating it will come out or send to me and i will try to remove it!? Been looking for a zenith 3 carb!! Drilling is not a good option!

Well, if drilling is your only option before junking the lower carb body, try this: First heat the lower carb body as I described above and then quench it in cold water. Use compressed air to dry and clean out the middle of the secondary well. Drill down the center of the secondary well deep enough to run a tap inside. Of course, the bit should be smaller than the outside diameter of the secondary well. You want to leave some meat on the well for the next step. Run the tap down to thread the inside of the well. Then take a hex head bolt the size of the tap and crazy glue the threads. Tighten the bolt inside the now-threaded secondary well and allow to cure over night. The next day, you should be able to simply unscrew the bolt, which will pull out the secondary well. By heating and quenching it the day before, you have "shocked" the brass secondary well to separate itself from the cast iron carb body. That was Step 1. Drilling and threading the secondary well was Step 2. Gluing a bolt inside the threaded secondary well was Step 3. And Step 4 consists of just unscrewing the bolt and secondary well. You might want to run a tap through the threads in the carb body afterwards for the secondary well. It sure couldn't hurt, unless you use the wrong size tap.

Did you get it removed yet?
