Your opinions on Elgin engine parts?

I have built many engines but I am very new to the flathead. I have a couple 8BA blocks and am in the early stages of parts collection. I have quickly learnd I won't be able to afford the best of everything in this build. I have found a good price on a very Elgin valvetrain kit. I'm sure some of you have experience with Elgin. I have run a few of their oil pumps on later Ford engines and they were fine. thanks

I had the cam cut by Dema Elgin over 10 years ago for my French block flathead in my 40 coupe. He asked all the right questions as to rear gear ratio, tire size and ****** gears. It has worked very, very well for me.

I will point out that the final specs for my cam actually turned out to be fairly close to the Howard L-100. At the time, however, I knew nothing of the existence of an L-100 cam and I could not tell you at the time what would have been good or bad for my engine.

" Metra " Elgin is a stand up guy who's cam outfit is up in Santa Rosa Ca. He is a member of the Jokers car club and has alot of Ed Winfields equipt. I had a Winfield cam out of an old So Cal lakes race motor ( flat motor ) he knew the grind code, hand polished it and it is as good as it was when iot was made ! he still make cams to order today
