xxxxxx, I have the rims in my vehicle as of now. I will call xxxx and give him a 24 hr notice if weather holds out. I hoping for Monday but there is rain or snow in the forecast and the higher elevation there they will have snow. I am busy Tues. and Wed. so I have to go by good traveling conditions before I can deliver. I will inform you also when I will make the trip. Craig
Ps this was predicament I was in this AM

Craig, Verify your PayPal acct and when you want me to do the transfer.

I am shooting for Mon. How do I verify my PP acct.?

A lot of pleasantries and sharing of pictures in between. Delivered rims to PA in the snow a 4 hr drive back and forth for $60.00 not complaining though! Then the person inquired about my 3:56 rear on The Ford Barn conversation continues with some pictures.

Would you just sell the banjo with the gear set ? If so what would you want for it? Thanks.

Hi xxxxx, How is the car coming along, is it together? Was it delivered in good condition? The rear is sold as a complete unit for xxxxxx

xxxxx it is looking nice! Wish I had a project like yours!!! I see the the new treads, how did the rims work out, painted what color?

Not very happy with the rims.Lots of pitting and only 2 spin true the other 3 ,1/8 runout.Would not have bought them if I saw them in person.I spent hrs sanding the inside lips to get them smooth so I could mount tubeless tires on them.Looking for 2 better ones.Wobbly ones are on the rear.

xxxxn sorry to hear that. If I can make it up let me know. I bought them that way without knowing the condition. I never put them on a car or tried to true them to find out. Craig

to conclude the buyer wanted 125.00 and we settled on 100.00.
How would you feel as a buyer or seller I'm interested to know? Craig

I think whoever saw the first picture should have concluded that the "set" was a collection of rejects from the bone yard, and to even ask for more pictures is just plain silly.

"Pictures speak louder than words." I defy Mr. Deuce Lover to post any transcripts he has of me ever saying any of that. By the way I am at Hershey spots C40 36-37 stop by and say hello. France isn't that far for the biggest car show on earth.

Descriptions of rust can vary from coast to coast.I ran a wanted ad for a set of 35 Ford 16"spoke wheels.I was specific in that they not be pitted especially on where the tire mounts because I wanted to mount tubeless tires on them.Well a fellow on the East coast respond and did include pics that he had a nice set that had been stored for years. The pics were so so.Being as he was a car guy he would know. After having them shipped in my 33 to Europe - what a surprise. He must not have had his glasses on and or had thick gloves when he ran his hand over them.Took me hrs to disc sand them on the inner lip to get them smooth.4 of the 5 wheels were quite pitted on the outer band but at least the spokes and hub weren't to bad.Of the 5 only 2 spin true.2 have about 3/16 run out and one is so bad that its the spare. After having them blasted and powder coated they look decent but definitely have texture to them.I did get in contact with the seller and he did give me a partial refund. Here are some catch phrases to be aware of.Here is a pic of the best wheel.Looks good from 10 ft away doesn't it.
I was told etc....
I never noticed that...
I didn't know .....
Won't take much to fix or restore ...
90% good ....
Just surface rust,nothing serious.....
Looks good from a few feet away....
Won't be seen when mounted or installed
Was my grampa's in dry storage for years
BTW this was not a deal on the Barn but the V8 Club website classified wanted ad.

If the pictures were "so,so" why not ask for better pictures and close-ups? Especially if you live across the pond. What's good to those that live in the rust belt can be junk to those that live in rust free areas. The word good is always a person's frame of reference. I 'm used to really clean rust free cars and passed on cars that guys from the rust belt would be happy to own.

The crucial thing in my mind is the "as is" in the initial add. I'm not sure given the communication posted here where the NOS was claimed. Living in another country myself I have experienced the frustration of paying a fortune to ship something and when it arrives it is not as you expect. Looking back however most of the time I have to put my hand up and say I didn't do my research well enough before buying. I must say that multiple sellers on Fordbarn have never let me down.-Karl

The parts were shipped in a car he bought from PA. 60 dollars for shipping for me to run there. I had sent more pictures than necessary! He came back to me once after he had found better rims and when the person would not cater to him. He wanted mine??? Also I bought these on Ebay years ago the seller stating they were 17" rims. "Caveat Emptor"

IMHO the pictures are very poor. To me, it appears that the best picture is of the red rim, and that rim is the very best of the bunch.
Overpriced to begin with. Junk

Why are we reading this, vengeance? Sounds like Facebook a teen sight-unseen transaction which doesn't belong here. Chalk it to a lesson learned and reclaim the bitterness.

The stuff we are dealing with is ancient. It sat outside somebody's outhouse for years. I can't remember how many ads I have seen where the term NOS was used, and when asked, the vendor didn't have a clue as to what that REALLY meant.

On the flip side, I have purchased stuff off eBay that was exactly as presented. I have sold, on eBay, as well. With no bad press.

As someone else put it, "buyer beware".
