Ya gotta listen to your car

The last couple of days my car has been saying fix me. The clutch started to chatter a little, didn't seen as smooth at idle. When I started of gear shift would move a little, spark lever would move slightly toward retard.

I'm sure many of you already know what I found.

I opened the left hood to look around. The bolt on the left Float-a-Motor mount had moved up. The nut had fallen off and I guess enging torque caused the bolt to move up. I put a new washer and Nylon lock Nut on, tightened it up driver and car are much happier now. Interesting how machinery often gives hints that something bad is really about to happen.

Lots of cars give warning of impending failure. Few listen to the warnings.
That is how I made my living for 30 yrs, fixing stuff that the driver should have found a lot earlier.

One case, women drove her car into her garage, shut the engine off, the left front fender dropped down. Left front wheel fell off, wheel brgs were so far gone i had to replace the spindle and hub on the drum.

Glad you listened to your car, saved you some $$

Yep, once used to something you can tell when something isn't quite right.
or they like to trick you, my s10 i coulda sworn the bottom end was hammering at idle (yet smooth as butter and silk anything above idle) but turns out the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust system is loose and was ratiling around haha. yea its been loose and rattling for the last 15K miles haha. i wont fix it till it rots off again...

Yep, might as well wait until it hits the road, and twists all up and takes the brake line with it.:D:p LOL
