As far as I'm concerned, Flat-O-Matic is the best. I have their C-4 kit behind a 312 in my TBird and everything fit.

I think John Mummert handles the Flato adapters. He can also help with the specific needs and requirements.

Hey, a maybe interesting side note. Back in 1993 I looked everywhere for any kind of trans adapter for a Y, mating to a modern trans. After months of searching without luck, went with the only thing available at the time to mate to the '46, an adaptor to flathead three speed. Just a few months later Flato came out with theirs . I believe it was the first for modern transmission.

I too have a Flat-o C-4 adapter for a Y-Block and am very happy with it. But if your interested you could try Wilcap for a Y-Block to GM trans (TH350, TH400, TH700, etc.) or Bernstein Transmission for AOD adapter.
Thought I would throw some info out there if anyone is interested.

I have an AOD also but don't i need the computer to run it. I have a complete 87 ford 5.0 fuel injected motor with the AOD and would rather use the AOD with the y block if I can use it without the computer.
Thanks for all your help.

If it's an AOD , NO ! Automatic Over Drive
EAOD , YES ! Electronic Automatic Over Drive

If you have the AOD make sure you have the parts that connects the carb and the trans . they can be difficult to get set up . Locar does make a very nice cable set up if you don't have that parts .

If you have an EAOD , you can buy a computer that attach's to the firewall and then you can use an Electronic shift trans easily . That way you don't have to take the wiring harness and computer from a donor car to make the trans work .

Hope this helps some .

Jim

AOD's up to 1993 are non-computer,88-93 are the preferred cores for a build. One of the best AOD sites is: www.clickclickracing.com
