y block 3 speed bell housing interchange

Well I have searched and can't find my exact situation. I have a 1957 hydraulic clutch bell housing for a 3 speed. Can I use in in a 56 mechanical set up. I know mummert says it works in the 5 speed swap but that doesn't answer my question. Thanks

A truck bell? I can’t really help with the question, but all the cars I’ve been involved with were mechanical linkage. Just curious.

Yes forgot to say truck. Ford used hydraulic from 57-60 which must have been too expensive since they went back to linkage until 1980.

I used one of Mummert’s truck bells in my 32 to mount a TKO 500. But I used a hydraulic throw out bearing. No room with headers and a full hood. So I’m not much help.

I know there’s a number of truck guys over on Yblocksforever. They might help if nobody chimes in here. You need to contact Ted Eaton at eatonbalancing to join, he’s the spammer control. Might help.

Tried to register on y blocks forever and it is disabled for new registration. I found on the site to contact eaton balancing if that happens and there contact doesn't work either?

Ted screens the new members because they had a lot of scammer trouble, a lot in foreign languages. His site comes right up for me, but his yahoo email contact might be different. It’s also racing season, so he could be at a track somewhere. So it might take some patience. Here’s his home site link, with the contact button on the top.

Just chiming in but the truck bells have molded in lower mounts for the truck cross member just check for that.

The hydraulic clutch from an f100 can be adapted but the master would not fit if you have a power booster up top

The slave goes into one of the holes right near the z bar
Search for 57-60 f100.
61 and newer went to mechanical

If you do see one at a yard get the whole setup so you have something to follow for the hole. I don't think anyone reproduced that piece.

I was going to convert my 61 f100 to hydraulic so I had to learn all about it.

Always check your Z bar tube for splits and cracks.

No, you cannot use a 1957 Ford hydraulic clutch bellhousing in a stock 1956 mechanical setup without substantial modifications.
