Y 4V intake question

I have a late model B 4V intake with the choke heat riser that runs through the crossover. The tube is good, not burned out. Having never used this setup for an automatic choke, what is the ID/OD of the tube that runs between the choke and the outlet of the crossover riser? Does the choke tube insert directly into the hole in the center manifold leg, or go over a nipple outlet at the center leg?

Currently there is a very short nipple at the manifold outlet, 1/8-1/4 in. long. I am wondering if it is a piece of broken choke tube that needs to be drilled out or otherwise removed.

The nipple you have sticking out connects to choke mechanism on your carb. You should have a mushroom shaped fitting sticking out the other side of the manifold. This is the air inlet for the choke tube. The tube is a straight 1/4" pipe pushed through the manifold. The tube is prone to burning through.
Personally I would block them both off and fit an electric choke hooked up to the ignition. Much neater setup.

Those are available and easy to change, if you need one email ne back and i'll look it up, they run about $15.00. Frank
