WWW spare tire question?

I am not a purest so please don't flame me TOO bad.

I have a 1930 P/U ( I did not say truck) with 4 WWW tires BUT the spare is not. I like the whites and think it looks cool BUT the black wall kind of just looks wrong.

Now the question. I saw some where they painted the side walls back in the old days and I remember an add-on WWW that glued on. I know it would be easy to just buy but I have steering to fix, points, head gasket leaking , water pump leaking and a bad voltage regulator to fix. The tire is the last thing I need to do.

Any thoughts if reasonable will be considered. Remember, low cost is what I'm after.

Thanks, I love my truck, I mean pick-up..:D

You don't have much to loose by trying the white paint. I've seen it done back in the 60's and it stayed looking good.

Cover it with a porta wall if the paint doesn't stay nice.

Try the paint for sure or head for a swap meet! Some purist may gladly trade you! You should indeed make them all the same. Wayne

I used the white paint with poor results on working tires in the 1960's, and Porta Walls in 1970 until I went to Radials. Whop, Whop, Whop was all I heard after mounting them on the radials. They worked well enough on the bias plys but no way on the radials with their flexing.

White Paint - made for covering rubber.

I have not done it yet, but for years have been toying with the idea of putting white paint on the inside (black wall) of my one-sided (outside) whitewalls, thereby, at first glance, giving the appearance of a true (and era correct) double-sided white wall tire.

IF you don't like the results, put on a cloth tire cover.

Thanks, that is what I needed. It's the spare only, the others are like new. I was thinking the rubber paint latex. What I might do is practice on an old tire first. The paint is cheap. If that won't give me the results I want, I'll try the Porta-wall. They are what I was thinking.

Thanks for the help with the web-site.
