There seem to be a lot of parts that are available for old Fords that you can't get for the '49. One of those would be the chrome ball style dash knobs. My car came with them, but they are badly pitted. I'll keep them if I can't find the same in better shape, but I decided I'd put this feeler out there and try my luck. They look like this:
