Wrong epay descriptions

I am sure a lot of you share my frustration with the vendors that are blanketing epay with their cheap mdse calling it fits 32 Ford etc, (hubcaps, seatcovers, brake calipers and so on) This same sort of thing is hitting other popular searches such as Model T Ford. Hear is what can be done to put a kink in this practice, a post I put on the MTFCA this morning. I just called EBAY 1-866-540-3229 and complained. If everyone will go to the "report item", its to the right past shipping info, on your ebay page, hit it, go thru the three boxes, first: report category, check Listing practices, then go to next box: Reason for report, check fraudulent list activities, go to next box: Detail Reason, check you suspect that a listing is fraudulent then put an item number in the comments and explain that this items does not fit a Model T. If as many as possible do this, we can nit this in the bud. I spoke with an person that that is putting in and internal complaint also and was asked to do the above procedure anytime I see a bad listing.

Thanks for the tip..very frustrating to weed thru window tint, xenon headlights, fuel injectors, bling bling rims and such when trying to find original old antique parts.

CALL, i called to register a verbal complaint all they wanted was listing #'s i gave one for hubcaps & seatcovers

This shotgun listing practice has spread far and wide already. I have a '31 Lincoln and I regularly look on eBay under that listing and lo and behold that were 354 items that matched listed in the last 24 hours, but not a single one had anything to do with '31 Lincolns.

Everything from bean bag ash trays to dice for tire valve caps to 15" wheels covers for Hyundai, Toyota, Mazda, etc.

It used to be confined to one day a week, but not any more.

Thanks for the guidance on helping to throttle this practice. I would not buy a toothpick from any of those clowns.

I have Model T's and a 29 Packard and check regularily for stuff there and they are all corrupted. I hope everyone will send in lots of Report Item complaints and maybe we can get them to make some positive changes.
There is another way to check the boxes in Report Item which will account for a lot of those bogus items. It is Report Category, check listing practice: Reason for Report, check duplicate listing: Detailed Reason, check either fixed price or auction style.

If they don't stop the spam, it'll be their own kiss of death. They peaked and now they'll crash--- they made their money and now it's time to bail out. How many internet sensations have fizzled out? Answer: Most of them.

I think I'm going to short sell their stock.

I would think some legitimate Ford Flathead or what I check for 1937 Ford sellers should really be upset about this, even more so. The listing and pictures you are paying for are hidden away with this nonsense. Most like me just get fed up with it or loose patience and sign off not to even uncover the actual say 1937 Ford part.

Yesterday was something of a record for those clowns in California selling Toyota wheel covers, 15" steering wheel covers, ugly seat covers, etc. as this morning eBay advised that there were 1,115 new listings for 1931 Lincoln, not one of which was for the car in question.

I know it's a pain and I dislike it too, I didn't know there was anything you could do about it but the way I get around it is on the left side bar I check the used box and that knocks out amost all of them.

In the meantime, you can modify your search by adding a negative sign in your search criteria, making sure you leave no space between the - and the items you want ignored.

For example: 32 ford window regulator -hid -cover -hubcaps -floormats -air freshener

Maybe it would be nice if they added a section to their parts searches for OEM parts only. The guy in Hudson, IA among others, dumps their entire reproduction parts catalog. If you list something yourself, it can get buried in page after page of repro stuff, making it difficult to find when people scroll down entire pages of aftermarket stuff.

I have noticed that several "vendors" are actually apper to be the same company, for instance it looks like the hubcaps, brake calipers, brake paint, seatcovers and floormats are all from LA, gearheadwold, rodpartsdealer and gonefishing69 are all Iowa and appear to be the same company putting std repop catalog items up at std list price hopeing to get some sucker to bid the price up. I believe it is well worth the effort for all of us to push at cleaning it up because reguardless of what some say, I have found it the place to find things I might spend several years and lots of gas money looking for at fleas. My experience as a buyer has been good but with a lot of research to determine what I am buying is really worth.

I sent in twenty or so complaints per eBay's process. Unfortunately, each item number requires a separate report and it's likely that my patience would wear out before I reported all 1,115 ringers for the 1931 Lincoln, let alone likely double that for 1932 Ford. I normally look at the '32 through '36 Ford categories, but not with all these listings jamming up the category. There's a flaw in eBay's system that is permitting this to happen and if they don't address it, they will end up the loser as a business enterprise.

The item art work is the same for the wheel covers, etc., so it's pretty obvious that it is one California source using multiple selling names. The guy or guys in Iowa have been at it for a long time. In their case, I just make a mental note never, ever to buy anything from that seller(s).

Until such time as eBay throttles these guys, I'll follow the helpful recommendations made above to reduce the chaff. Thanks!

Unfortunately it is all about exposure on e-bay. I just list the parts for what they are and hope 2 or 3 people fight over them. My stuff seems to sell for less that way, but not trying to make things into what they are not is the only way I will list them. Rod

When I called Ebay Customer Service, guess where the called ended up??? It wasn't here in the U.S.
