Here is my first attempt at wood graining. I took a piece of sheet metal and dipped it in my brown lacquer and let dry, I then got some red mahogany minwax, and yellow ochre oil paint. Tore off a piece of scotch brite and coiled it. Put some red mahogany on the scotch brite and used a paper towel to remove most of it added a little yellow ochre and went at it. twisting left and right, was looking for something like the dash trim on my Bravada. It looks pretty good, (to me) will let dry sand lightly and clear to see if it's what I want. Zeke
Damn the clear lifted the minwax paint I used for the wood graining over the base lacquer, had to clean with lacquer to the epoxy primer and try again, this time I will use enamel over the red oxide lacquer primer to create the wood grain. Need to thin the enamel heavy, and it dries fast. It isn't easy to do it cheap. Zeke
