Wood Filler

I have a loose rear door hinge on my Fordor but cannot tighten the mounting screws. Is there a particular product I can fill the holes and then be able to re-drill and put the screws in to tighten.
Also are the REAR door handles mounted into wood behind them or are they mounted into metal.

Thanks for your time.

Drill the screw hole out using a brad point bit and glue a wooden dowel in the hole using 2 part epoxy. Redrill the hole with a smaller pilot bit. Your done!

drill another small hole right at the edge where the plug and door jamb come together, glue in another smaller dowl that will lock the bigger plug in place and prevent it from turning, it acts like a key way on an axle to lock a brake drum

take some round toothpicks put some glue on them and drive them in with a tack hammer
this works great for filling old nail holes in the top bows too

you need a hard wood dowl for the screw for door hinges, any thing else is to soft to hold a screw , the doors are heavy

I used a piece of oak dowel with a good grade of wood glue after drilling out the hole.
I Let the glue and plug set up and the drilled for a screw. Worked great on my town sedan rear door... no more loose hinge!

Thanks to all for your responses and suggestions. I didn't see an answer to my second question which was " are the REAR door handles mounted into wood behind them or are they mounted into metal ".

Thanks again.

Hey Joe
Don't know what year or manufacturer you have (or if it makes a difference) but if you are refering to the outside door handles my 31 TS Murray handles are screwd into wood from the outside. I believe all Fordors are mounted the same.

Thanks Rusty Homestead for the reply. Although I have a '31 Briggs Blindback I would have to agree with you that they are all the same.
Thanks again for your time.:)
