Wood bed conversion kit for '25 T Roadster

I see that Mac's has a spiffy wood bed conversion kit for sale on page 150 of the 2009-2010 catalog, $694.50.

From the picture, is just looks like a few boards held together with some hardware, something I could easily replicate for a few hundred bucks. Bob's Antique Auto Parts in Loves Park, IL has all the used hardware, $75.00, I'll bet the wood will come in at around $200 or so.

My task: does anyone have some detailed photos of one of these Roadster/pickup conversions? I am planning on removing the existing fiberglass turtle deck & lid and fabricating something similar, but would like to see a nice one that I might copy some of the better engineering without re-inventing the wheel. The photo in Mac's is just not detailed enough to do this.

you can get the plans from Langs parts...........what wood do you plan to use? I am doing the same to a '26 roadster........if you can't get the plans let me know.......does your source have another set of hardware.........thanks, Pat

Pat: Bob's in Loves Park IL deals in used parts as well as new, but you never know what they have and don't have. I was standing over an orange crate filled to the brim of used, rusty bed parts and Bob wanted photos of what I wanted to do so that we could pick and choose which of these parts would work. Apparently back in the day, there were many different beds and lots of different hardware to go with them. I suppose that I could dig around for a second set once I get up and running with some kind of plan on mine, and let you know.

Here's the one I built for a '27 I did awhile back. only cost about $75 to build.

I have the remnants of an original wood bed that is built of oak. Sorry, too new to try to post pictures yet. plan to use to cut a pattern soon. maybe then i will be able to post pictures

I might be infringing on this post, but according to my "Ford Trucks since 1905" by James K. Wagner book (page 54) Ford began producing their own 1/4 ton pickup boxes made of steel and sold as a $25 option. These boxes are not being reproduced, however, the Model A front panel and tailgate interchange. These boxes are not plentiful because of their one year only status - I managed to find one in good condition for my '25 restoration and also a fairly tough one for "just in case". They also require a specific top fender brace and is easily reproduced when you have one to copy from and have access to a lathe.
Any other restored '25 runabout pickups out there?

If you chose to go the period look, here are plans that were published in 1926 in an old magazine.
