Wobbly drive shaft problem!

The drive shaft on my 1953 Ford V8 standard shift appears to not be straight. I can see it wobble jacked up idling in first gear. On the road I feel a strong vibration. So far, I have thrown the drive shaft off TWICE! I'm on my third set of u joints. Should I try to find a new shaft? :(

I take all of my drive shafts to a drive shaft specialty shop. They check them, balance them and if need be repair them. Your ends can be welded to a new tube if required. I have always found the prices very reasonable. Such shops exist almost anywhere larger trucks are worked on.

Try removing the shaft, put ends of shaft body on v blocks. This can be a couple pieces of lumber.
Put a block at center, touching the side. Look to see if a gap developes when rotated slowly

The ujoints center the shaft, make sure that they are installed correctly- no perceptable end play, and that they fit neatly in the rear yoke
