Wishbone ball rubber

There was a discussion recently about the rubber ball cover for a wishbone on a 32-48 Ford. I can't find it, but want to know of a good supplier of the correct one?
I know Mac's and others sell them, just want to do it once and have it correct.
Thanks
Jim

All the antique Ford Parts Dealers sell them. Like Lawson said, they most likely are foreign made. I just replaced the one in our '39 CS and '39 LZ; (the '39 LZ & Mercury use a different ball) got them both from Joblot in Queens, NY.

when you put on the new ball, you need to drill a small hole in the other end to put it on. you will fight it if you don't!

I braze the old steel ball up then file. sand, & polish it back round again then install the OEM cap. Works good & lasts a long time. Of course, this is on a model A that didn't use the rubber bushing originally.

If you'll reimburse the $ 5.50 for a small flat rate USPS shipping box I'll send this little fella at ya . He is really pretty nice under the petrified grime . It is a 33 but that shouldn't matter . Repo's of these I've had are CRAPOLLA . Actually some NORS ones ain't so great either . Anywayz the price in non-negotiable as I don't want rid of it bad enough to PAY to get rid of it :D . As a side note I have one of these that's noticeably bigger ? Gennie part - just larger !! If this makes sense PM an address to send it to .

The larger one is 42 - 48.

I recall reading somewhere where all the radius rod ball caps are not the same for 32-48. Bolt hole locations are different.

"Smaller" caps are '32 to '40. "Larger" caps are '41 to '48. (At least, that's my understanding.)

PS: When you go to install it, smear a bit of lube around the bigger hole, put it up to the wishbone ball and shoot a short blast of compressed air into the smaller hole. It will leap on!!

Soapstone powder or talcum powder works as good and is not prone to deteriorate the rubber as some lubricants will.

As you can see the old good ones had the " burpin " hole . I guess I'm a tic confused as to what you seek ? Do you need the cap or the rubber ball or both ? If you need the ball barnfind08 here is where I bought mine { 8 } and he probably has more . AKA Fred at Southside obsolete in Fairbault MN . He probably has the caps also . These are nice and firm - not the squishy crap peddled nowdays .

I just need the rubber ball thingy.
Thanks all for all the info. I hope it's not too hard to install
Regards
Jim

The rubber ball is easy to install, (I’m assuming that the wishbone is still in the car) you really don't need to drill a small hole in it, just put some lubricant (of your choice) on the wish bone ball. Pull the wish bone away from the cross member and place the rubber ball with the opening at about a 45 degree angle to the wish bone ball, up in the cross member. Let go of the wish bone and the pressure (weight of the car) will force the rubber over the end of the wishbone. Install the cap and you are done.

No problem as I don't sell little stuff like that . Much rather donate it to a worthy cause . Again the GOOD old rubber balls HAVE the hole - you don't need to drill them .
Again, thanks to everyone. AND, DavidJ, hang onto that cap. I may need it
