Wiring fuel sending unit

I recently purchased a totally disassembled 1950 Ford F1. The previous owner lost interest in it 15 years ago. I'm trying to figure out how to wire the fuel tank sending unit. Does anyone know the correct way to get the wire from the sending unit to the gauge cluster? Does the wire run under the cab outside, over the driver's door or just across the floor and up the firewall to the dash? The new wire is only 110 inches long. Thanks a lot

I wired my 48 under the cab. The ground wire can be grounded close to the tank.
