Is there anyplace that I can find out how the wires should be routed in the engine compartment? I have a series of wires running down the steering shaft and a large bunch on the drivers side of the radiator. When I look at detailed photos they are always well hidden. I would like to know how they are suppsoed to be run.

Thanks much!

Bob

Bob, there shouldn't be a series of wires inside of the steering shaft, --and really only be one wire going down the inside of horn rod. Are your wires still inside their looms?

Brent,

Thanks for you reply. I will take a few pictures in the morning and post them so you can see what I am talking about. Many of them are not in a harness, but it seesm as though they should be.

Here are some photo's of the wiring I am talking about. I discovered that the wires running down the outside of the steering column are from aftermarket blinkers. Any thoughts or comments on the mess at the bottom? Any idea what it is supposed to look like?

Thanks,

Bob

Wow, what is all that? Should be one loom running forward and one running to the rear. What runs forward in the first picture looks to be the right diameter loom, but there is so much of it there. It should come out of the end of the steering column, run along the bottom of the frame and pop up next to the grill shell where the loom splits. Part of it goes to the horn and dr side headlight. The rest of the loom continues across the bottom of the radiator, clipped into the tabs there, then up to the pax side light. The loom along the frame rail is held in place by a couple clips, with the front one (which looks simular to the one you have on the water jacket) attached to the bolt for the front hood latch.
I ran my turn signal wires in 1/4" loom material (from MAC's) down to the floor behind the kick panel and out a slot that was already there. It came out next to the frame and isn't seen from the engine compartment. It splits and goes front and back with the other looms.
Sorry, I don't have any pics. ken

Forgetting about the wires for your signal lites , it looks like it might not be the correct wiring hrness for an A? Lots of wires there and too much length. Wardkew's method for signals works. JMO

Well, I finally figured out what happened. The harnesses are correct, but the previous owner ran new wires from the headlights through the flexible conduits and then crimped it onto the original wiring. Good news is he didn't cut the original wires off, or at least not too much. I got rid of the new wiring and puled the harnesses through like they are supposed to go. Now it looks like all the pictures i see!

Also, thanks for the suggestions on routing the new turn signal wires.
