Wiper motor field winding repair.

Is the wiper motor field winding wire size and wrap direction the same as the horn wire size and direction?

Thanks

Don't know. Just remove the wire and measure the size and turns, and be sure to make notes showing exactly how it goes (the direction and placement of the windings).

Before removing any wire, make all the other checks first to be sure it actually is the windings that are bad. Often an insulating washer is left out of place (as on the horn frame brush mounting screw) or some other fault can be found.

Tom,

Thanks for ideas to check ... I will have to find another wiper and count / measure as you suggested.

Problem is someone rewired this one before I got it and used two different sizes of wire, different one on each coil. Wire looks larger than other motors I looked at. Motor runs slow and has little torque. Suppose it could be related to not enough wraps due to the larger wire.
