Wiper Bracket interference

Brother A

Hello everyone. New to the Ford Barn. After a long and careful search I am now the proud owner of a 1931 Slant Windshield Cabriolet. I am new to Model A's but the slant windshield cab was my absolute favorite model and I found a fantastic car. All the heavy lifting for the restoration was carefully and beautifully done but incomplete. I am down to some of the finishing touches.

I've just installed the interior trim pieces that include the trim around the windshield frame. I had to prop open the windshield to install the top piece. When I tried to close it I discovered that the wiper motor bracket that is attached to the windshield hits the trim. The windshield was replaced during the restoration. Before I get out the cutting wheel I thought I'd ask for some advice here.

Hey there! I'm a Slant Window Cabriolet owner as well. Seems like there are very few of us 68C people. There are a handful on this board. I would love to see some pictures posted of your car sometime.

Regarding the wiper bracket. Mine wasn't attached to the window frame, just sandwiched in and held with the wiper motor shaft. It drags a little on my trim as well. You could maybe bend it a little.

Does your trim have an indention for the bracket? It should. Here is a picture from my car with the window open.

Jasson,
Thanks very much for the reply and picture. I spoke to the former owner and he said that the trim piece was not on this car when it was restored. It came from another cabriolet however. I know that they made some changes to the 68-C later in production so I don't know if there were some changes to this piece as well. I have an early model with the three screw mirror like yours. Now that I know that it is not an original piece I am less concerned about bending it a bit as you suggested. I managed to "persuade" it into position this morning but it would not be easy to open the windshield.

By the way, I'm looking for a wiper motor for the car. Please let me know if you you know where to find one. Here is a picture of my car.

Wooooo Weee! Looks great! I can see why you are so proud!

Yeah. I've had my 68C for about 7 months now as well. I had a 1930 Cabriolet 68B that was unrestored, but I've always loved the Slant Window Cabriolet. When I saw one come up for sale, I jumped on it. I'm very very glad I did. It's the pride and joy!

My cabriolet is very early. Only 3 digits in the body number. in the 500s.

I got my wiper motor from "Ron Monte" I saw his ads on eBay. He should have another. I saw him advertising another one after I bought mine. He does chrome plating, so he gets NOS wipers, triple chrome plates them and then sells them. I think I negotiated like $20 less than he originally asked. Kinda pricey, but it's the thing you stare at every time you drive the car.

That's a real head turner Jason. Love the apple green wheels. I just added it to my screen saver slide show. Thanks
