Wiper blade tension

Blade lays flat against the windshield with wiper motor off.
When motor is turned on blade raises off windshield and clears nothing.
What needs to be done to keep blade on the windshield???

I never use the wiper anyway. Forget the wiper, an application of Rainex is all you need.

What car do you have? My hand wiper on my 28 Phaeton is worthless. Of course I try to never drive in the rain anyway, even with my modern car. Less water means less rust.

The spring on the arm provides the tension...

Car is a '30 standard coupe w/orig. type replacement blade.

Seems to need a stronger spring.
