Wing window won’t stay open

My passenger side wing window on my 40 doesn’t want to stay open. I figured I just needed to remove it and tighten the nut but that did not work. Even cranked all the way to tight, the wing window still just flops around. I feel like I’m missing a small part. Help? I’m trying to finish up loose ends before it goes to the interior shop next week. Thanks!

Re: Wing window won’t stay open

If I remember correctly, the flat piece goes under the frame part thats bent in right now . Then the a washer ? Then the spring . I think what’s happening is the whole assembly ,the way you have it , is compressing the metal frame and not adding the required resistance to the shaft ( window )
Hope it makes sense , no coffee yet .
I can take a picture of another make that’s currently disassembled if You want . They’re generally the same .

Well, I don’t take a lot of photos on disassembly (real dumb I know) but I happened to take one when I took these apart.just found it on my phone. I am indeed missing the second washer. The flat part in my first photo goes in the small part of the frame next the wrench in the photo. For the missing washer i used a normal washer and it now has resistance and is t flopping around.

Best to use a slotted hex nut so you can install a cotter pin and the nut stays put.
